AtkinsTechnicolour

AtkinsTechnicolour is Adelaide's largest and longest running photographic lab. Our work with AtkinsTechnicolour started with a logo and then went through the entire business. The only thing left is their website and we are working on that now.

The brief was to create a logo that would do many things all at once, like all logos. They wanted something modern, long lasting, something that declares them as being a company of vision, yours, and theirs. They wanted the logo to reflect more than the photographic industry as all image creation industries are slowing merging together.

They also wanted to make their very long name a little more friendly and meaningful. They were originally Atkins until they bought Technicolour, so the two combined. The square icon allowed for the name to be broken up into usable chunks, putting the emphasis on Atkins.

The logo we developed uses the A from the name, flips it on it's side to resemble the eye in profile, representing vision. Such a simple, yet powerful idea is combined with their logotype square to make a very flexible and distinctive corporate identity with great longevity.

We were commissioned to design a full range of corporate publications and applications. The website branding is the final step in this stage, but there are always new opportunities to expand their business and their brand.

The letterhead we designed for AtkinsTechnicolour was Shortlisted in a group of 20 for the National Spicers Paper Letterhead Competition.
